From Ghostly.com: Ghostly International sprang onto the scene in 1999 amidst the collapse of the music business. Part art gallery and part musical culture brand, Ghostly mines the international landscape for talent with a look towards the future and without the restriction of established genres or classification. Trading on its strength as a culture brand with the core values of quality, diversity and design integrity, Ghostly has garnered praise from around the globe, garnering respect of the international media, including Hot Label of the year in Rolling Stone and a coveted spot on the Late John Peel’s BBC show. Ghostly aims continue to promote great artists and bring forward work of individuality, beauty and quality to fans.
Even before IODA began working with Ghostly as their digital distributor, we were constantly in awe of the vast, varied and always extremely high quality releases in Ghostly’s repertoire. Our head of Marketing, Adam, worked “Idol Tryouts Volume 1″, one of Ghostly’s very first releases to radio about a decade ago.
Favorites of 2008 include:
School of Seven Bells, Deastro, Michna and, of course, a Ghostly original, Matthew Dear.

“Meanwhile, there was no unified, overwhelming buzz band, a role filled by bands like Arcade Fire and Black Kids in past years. The closest contenders were probably…School of Seven Bells, merging dance beats, throbbing meditative drones, guitar distortion and blissed-out harmony vocals by twin sisters.” – The New York Times

“Even with splashes of analog instrumentation throughout, songs never sound the least bit organic, but instead buzz and pulsate with a glossy glow, making this a fitting disc for lounging in the digital age.” -allmusic
