Working in the main with our British accounts, I naturally tend to get a feel for what releases get featured & where in the UK. I’m pleased to say that eMusic & Boomkat tend to house many of my favourite labels. In addition to this, the folks here also give some mighty good editorial! As such those guys tend to produce reliable features which I can linger on, perhaps even learn something from; whether that is an associated recommends or an insight into the artist(s) themselves. I regularly read/see something that takes my eye whilst browsing these stores & then wish to investigate further with my ears. My hope being that when I get features on these sites for IODA’s plethora of artists that the same trigger of exploration occurs for someone else.
World, electronic, dance, alternative & folk perform particularly well on both of these stores.
You can take your exploration a little further by investigating these two websites, the first being linked to Boomkat, http://14tracks.com & secondly eMusic’s external blog, http://17dots.com
Enjoy!
