Y La Bamba- “Alida St.”

I first met Luz Elena (songwriter and vocalist for Y La Bamba) by accident on the streets of the Dog Patch in San Francisco. I was immediately won over by her personality and some of the mutual topics of interest that came up in our conversation. I actually missed her show that night, but was THRILLED when I pressed play on the CD she gave me and immediately knew it was something special. I played those demos almost daily for a few weeks before running into the fine folks at label New Super Heros who then told me she had signed to the label and would be officially releasing! What great news!

I expect big things from this Portland, OR based songwriter and encourage everyone to check out her album. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a Sunday afternoon, or included on a mix of esoteric songwriters. Favorite tracks of mine include Alida Street (title track) and Fasting in San Francisco.
