Fresh off a strong presence at SXSW, the Slumberland Records lineup is definitely stronger than ever. Slumberland began operations in 1989 as a collective effort consisting of members of DC area bands that grew into a reputable source for post-punk independent music. The explosion of punk had left behind a thriving network of ‘zines, labels and distributors and they felt that there was room for their noise-loving, pop-obsessed aesthetic. The label expanded its roster and horizons, always with the goal to bring you great songs and interesting sounds from a range of styles. And so it continues almost twenty years later and 80 releases later.
