Cineplexx is the unique musical creation of Sebastian Litmanovich – an Argentine graphic artist and musician, who currently resides in Barcelona. For the past ten years, Cineplexx has traveled around the world, channeling his passion for art and bringing his music to such cities as Buenos Aires, New York City, and Tokyo. Cineplexx’s music can best be described as latino laced indie-pop though his whispery vocals and esoteric soundscapes also bridge into the realm of atmospheric electronic.

I had the pleasure to meet Cineplexx (and his brother Martin) after helping to present his first show in the US back in 2002 which took place at The Knitting Factory in NYC (opening up for Scanner). The album they were promoting at that time was called Electrocardiograma. The packaging – a green cardboard fold out which he hand made was equally as impressive as the music.

Since that time, Cineplexx has received much critical acclaim – including being called “Beautiful and Contagious” by Rolling Stone Argentina and being included in Obscure Sound’s Top 50 albums of 2008 saying “Picnic may very well go down as one of the most uniquely engaging releases of the year”. Cineplexx’s 6th album is being released on esteemed UK label Cherry Red. This album, titled Nuevahola (translates to New Hello) is a thirteen track compilation of old, new & rare Cineplexx songs which includes collaborations with Duglas Stewart & Stuart Kidd (BMX Bandits), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Federico Aubele & Natalia Clavier. This is the first time all of these tracks have been available for download outside of the U.S & Mexico. My favorite track from Electrocardiogram called “Facil” is included on this album as is a great acoustic version of the classic Rolling Stone’s track “Paint it Black”.
