294963 72 RIP Teddy PendergrassWe are saddened to hear the news of Teddy Pendergrass’ passing.  Pendergrass was attempting recovering from colon cancer surgery when he passed away on Wednesday at age 59.

The Philadelphia soul singer got his start as a member of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.  They released the Grammy nominated classic, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”.  His solo career began in 1976.  He brought about a new type soul singer, one that sang sensual ballads to impress a core audience of swooning women.  Pendergrass was the first black male singer to record five consecutive multiplatinum albums.

Our thoughts are with his family.
