He sings. He writes songs. He plays guitar. The Austin-born Texas artist has been writing since the release of his last album, his second, the irreverent and powerful Anywhere In Texas, which featured a dozen songs written and co-written by Park, including “Cold in Colorado,” with its killer chorus hook; “Don’t Look,” which climbed The Texas Music Chart; a co-write with Wade Bowen, “A Woman Like You”; the hard-driving “First Day of Summer”; and the sentimental final cut, “These Days.”

The new album features tunes in the same vein, universally melodic with bold yet personal lyrics, story-songs that come from the heart, sung in a pure, pitch-perfect yet understated voice that perfectly suits the songs and is easily identifiable on country radio.

 Featured Artist: Lotus

Never a group to be pigeonholed, Lotus brings many musical weapons to the stage. From festival stages such as Rothbury, Wakarusa and Red Rocks to theaters across the country the band has left grinning crowds dripping with sweat. Equal parts dance and rock, Lotus has been crafting a unique brand of instrumental rock for the past decade.

Lotus’ new self-titled album moves in a decidedly more electronic direction than their last two releases (2008′s Hammerstrike, 2009′s Oil on Glass/Feather on Wood). Analog synthesizers, manipulated sounds, dub effects and heavy bass are balanced by horns and string arrangements in addition to Lotus’s standard guitar/bass/drums instrumentation. Grooves range from slinky funk and gritty half-time on the first half of the album to the beautiful and expansive closing track “Orchids”. Although bits and pieces of vocals are used throughout, the only song to feature singing is “The Surf”. And while it may be the closest thing to a pop song the band has ever released, the melodic guitar hooks and ecstatic synth are pure Lotus.

Coming from a diverse background, Amir “Oddisee” Mohamed, half Sudanese half African American was blessed with musical talent from both sides of his family. Oddisee was influenced by the accomplished singers, guitarists, and poets on his Sudanese side, and on his American side, by the gospel singers, blue grass guitar players, and older cousins who gave him his first taste of hip-hop. Ironically, though, it was his Sudanese father that gave Oddisee the vinyl that fueled his passion for producing hip-hop music.  With his incredibly distinctive and mesmerizing style, Oddisee covers just about every sect of hip-hop music, creating a sound that is appealing to all music lovers.

Rock Creek Park is a favorite retreat for many in Washington, DC. including Oddisee who, while listening to the Black Byrd’s famous album, was inspired to create an interpretation of the park through break beats, samples & live instrumentation.

“Rock creek park is & has always been one of my favorite places in Washington, DC. It has a way of aging with you & adapting to where you are in life. When I was younger, it was a place for skipping rocks, bike rides & imaginary adventures in the woods. As a teen it was a place where I played basket ball, had cook outs with friends & walked through with dates. As an adult it’s my short cut through the city, my quickest way from Silver spring to George town. One thing it still is and always will be is my retreat…

The Jim Jones Revue are described as sounding like a car crash between Little Richard and The MC5. They play supercharged rock’n’roll inspired by The Killers, The Georgia Peach, The Memphis Flash and of course the Deranged Sons of Detroit.

The Revue were formed in 2007 by Jim Jones and Rupert Orton on a mission to strip rock ’n roll right back to the bone. They enlisted three other London hoodlums, Elliot Mortimer, Nick Jones and Gavin Jay and together they became The Jim Jones Revue.

The JJR released their debut self titled album in September 2008 to critical acclaim and followed it up with Here To Save Your Soul, a collection of the JJR’s singles released in October 2009.
