Happy Holiday’s from IODA! To wrap up the season we bring you Nicole Henry’s superb live Christmas album Set for the Season: Live In Japan.

Set for the Season was recorded over four nights of performances at the Cotton Club in Tokyo, Japan (2009) during Nicole’s ninth tour of the country since 2005 (after being awarded HMV’s Best new Jazz Artist and Best Vocal Jazz award for her first two albums, The Nearness of You and The Very Thought of You). The recording features Pete Wallace (Piano), James McCoy (Bass) and Dave Chiverton (Drums). Set For the Season includes holiday classics in addition to an amazing bonus performance of “I’d Rather Drink Muddy Water” – a highly requested audience favorite.

IODA is excited about the upcoming tour of the multi-talented artist, musician, influential poet, and award-winning screenwriter/actor Saul Williams. Williams will be performing songs from his new album, Volcanic Sunlight, which was recorded in Paris (Williams’ newfound home), and produced by Renaud Letang (Feist, Manu Chao). “The Volcanic Sunlight Tour” kicks off in Brooklyn on February 17 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and will conclude in Montreal on March 24 at Le Cabaret.

Representing quite a substantial fan base around the world, Saul Williams has been asked to perform at over 300 Universities and in more than 30 countries. After recently wrapping up the European leg of “The Volcanic Sunlight Tour” with dates in Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Netherlands, France, England, Romania, Sweden and Spain, Saul Williams will return to North America in early 2012. Saul will be backed by a full band with an explosive set designed to highlight all the different aspects of his talented personality.

 IODA Congratulates Label Clients on Blues Music Award NominationsIODA would like to congratulate all the independent labels and artists nominated in the 33rd Blues Music Awards.  Each year, The Blues Foundation presents The Blues Music Awards to the artists selected by its members. They are universally recognized as the highest honor given to Blues artists. Special congratulations are in order for IODA artists Ruthie Foster who earned 3 nominations; and to Ana Popovic and Terry Hanck with 2 nods each.

This year IODA artist and labels garnered a total of 26 nominations for more than 14 different awards. We at IODA are psyched to welcome the Athens, GA synth pop duo Yip Deceiver to San Francisco. The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Davey Pierce, originally intended to be a solo project, has since become a collaborative effort with Nick Dobbratz; who along with Pierce is from indie stalwarts Of Montreal. The tour is in support of Yip Deceiver, the band’s self-titled debut. Yip Deceiver’s music is an exciting take on experimental dance pop with strong hooks, playful take on new wave, 80s R&B and electro.
