Celebrating A Legend: The Wayman Tisdale Story The Wayman Tisdale Story is a feature length documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Wayman Tisdale, a three-time All-American, Gold Medal Olympian, former NBA star and world renowned Jazz musician who lost his two-year battle with bone cancer in May of 2009. Told through his own words, The Wayman Tisdale Story journeys through Tisdale’s life from this childhood as a preacher’s son to his battle with cancer. A story of human courage in the face of adversity, the documentary airs on ESPN and NBA TV this fall. Rendezvous Music complements this telling of Wayman’s story with a soundtrack featuring 13 tracks including the previously unreleased track, “Slam Dunk,” produced by Jeff Lorber; and the Toby Keith track, “Cryin’ For Me,” which was written and performed as a tribute to Wayman.

“This is really the first generation of people that truly will be immortalized… and it all has to do with the internet and the reality that we are going to be leaving this imprint that will always be forever accessible. Sort of a crazy thought… but you will live forever.” – Jonathan Berlin

On first listen, You Will Live Forever, the debut full-length album from Sunbears! fools you. On the whole, each of the thirteen songs morph into a heartachingly beautiful psychedelic rock opus – tantalizing your ears and soul. Lush harmonies play alongside striking orchestral arrangements, creating an epically huge sound from what must be an epically huge band. But surprise, Sunbears! are a duo.

Featured Release: Tim and Nicki Bluhm Duets
From husband/wife team and indie country/folk duo Tim and Nicki Bluhm comes Duets. The eight tracks blend the honky tonk harmonies of California country with West Coast folk and acoustic Americana, interlaced with vocal nuances and an emotional intimacy that inspire pin-drop attention. Duets features six original songs co-written by the Bluhms, plus two covers: “Running Wild” by Ray Edenton and Donny Winters; and “Reno, Nevada” by Richard Fariña. The couple recorded the songs at their San Francisco studio, Mission Bells, with producer Dan Prothero (Galactic, Papa Mali, JJ Grey & Mofro).

Duets sounds like a smile,” says Nicki. “Duets is a collection of songs from the past and of the present. Its simplicity and authenticity captures an era forgotten while being fresh and new. These are songs filled with love, character and charm that you can hear on every track.”

Album: Volcanic Sunlight
Label: Columbia / SME France

Release Date: 11.11.11

Multi-talented artist, musician, influential poet, and award-winning screenwriter/actor, Saul Williams has occupied all streets with the release of his fourth album, Volcanic Sunlight on November 11, 2011.  The new album is a luminous turning point for his unique and artistic career, and a new chapter in his musical journey. Recorded in Paris (Williams’ newfound home), and produced by Renaud Letang (Feist, Manu Chao), Volcanic Sunlight is an eclectic album blending electronic, hip hop, and rock elements. In 13 tracks, Saul Williams gathered all of his energies and has created his brightest, most rhythmic and danceable opus yet.

His early success led to collaborations with the likes of Erykah Badu, Nas, The Roots and Zack De La Rocha and he has cut records with Rick Rubin and Trent Reznor. Saul Williams’ open-mic escapades with the Nuyorican Poets peaked at Sundance when Slam won the Grand Jury Prize, and the art world celebrated the arrival of a whole new kind of talent. Volcanic Sunlight sees the breathless-spat attacks of his early slam poetry reduced to the exultation he was always chasing. He maintains his ferocity and ups the percussion, while losing the frown. Williams has also dropped his trademark verbal traffic jams in favor of more concise emotional outbursts. “There is a lot of fun to be had when you try and fit as many words as you can within a three-minute song,” he recently told Dazed Magazine, “but there is also a lot of fun in trying to get that message across in three words, or better yet when the music can overpower the words and convey something really pure and perfect…It’s as simple as wanting to lift the spirits.”
