Many musicians are using their creative talents to aid Japan earthquake & tsunami relief efforts. Among the many generous efforts are some notable ones by IODA-distributed artists Pink Martini, Frightened Rabbit, Why? & Kode9.
Pink Martini is headlining a benefit concert in their home Portland, OR. The benefit is being called “FROM OREGON, WITH LOVE; A Benefit Concert For The Mercy Corps Oregon/Japan Relief Fund,” and will feature: Pink Martini, Israel Nebeker of Blind Pilot, Holcombe Waller and many more talented performers. It is taking place Sunday, March 27 at the Aladdin Theater.
Anticon experimental hip-hoppers Why? are auctioning off a whole bunch of rare LPs from Why?, as well as cLOUDDEAD and Hymie’s Basement, over at band member Josiah Wolf’s eBay page; all proceeds from the auction will go to supporting Hands on Tokyo.
Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison will headline the Red Cross Fundraiser for Japan in Glasgow, Scotland at Stereo on March 30th.
Hyperdub head Kode9 is among some of the many contributors featured on the Nihon Kizuna compilation, which is available now for purchase on Bandcamp and iTunes Japan. The proceeds will go towards supporting the Japan Red Cross.
We urge all who are able to support the relief efforts in whatever way possible. Our thoughts are with the people of Japan as they continue to cope with this catastrophic disaster.
